Since its establishment by the ministerial decree No. 30 for the year 1999 based on law No. 12 for the year 1964 port Said Chamber of Shipping has initiated and developed a record of significantly well–established activities as specialized official advisor to the government bodies and shipping circles on shipping issues. It has always been striving for building up unified pool of opinions and viewpoints on shipping industry questions, also protection & promotion of the interests of the Egyptian shipping business and related services & facilities. The problems and practical issues of the various sectors of the shipping industry have been the main subject on which the chamber focuses its efforts and tackles the essentially connected points.

 Article No. (5) of the above-mentioned decree stipulates that (shipping chambers should be formulated of the following entities :

 A-        Shipping companies / agents working within the geographical area of relevant port authorities.

 B-        Shipping services companies working in geographical area of relevant port authorities.  

 The members of Port Said Chamber of Shipping are in the region of 100 members, representing the shipping industry and pertaining services businesses in Port Said Port, East of Port Said Hub Port & Al-Arish Port.
